What kind of books will I be reviewing? Mostly fiction, some new releases and best sellers, but also those books that might have been (or should have been?) overlooked when they first came out. I read a lot of international fiction and translations – that won’t change here. But don’t be surprised if some poetry and nonfiction occasionally find their way into the mix.
About me
My name is Tara Cheesman. I’m a freelance book critic, a National Book Critics Circle member, and part of the reading committee for the NBCC inaugural 2022 Gregg Barrios Book in Translation Prize. In 2018 & 2019 I was a Best Translated Book Award Fiction Judge. I first started reviewing books on my defunct blog, BookSexy Review, in 2009. Since then my work has appeared in The Los Angeles Review of Books, Book Riot, CrimeReads, Guernica, Barrelhouse, The Chicago Review of Books, The Mystery Tribune, and other online publications.
